This is a really BIG deal. Under this newly passed bill, scientists will be able to conduct #research on #cannabis using high quality cannabis products from in-state providers, rather than the dirt-weed they were previously required to work with.
This new system drastically reforms and fixes the clunky and intentionally complicated old system which inhibited legitimate research by forcing researchers who wanted to study cannabis to get their cannabis from the University of Mississippi... which quite honestly only had only 6 varieties of schwag/mid-grade cannabis for the research.
Moreover, the University also only had joints available for researchers, but offered no tinctures, edibles or vape products to conduct research. What a joke.
“Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Health and Human Services shall issue guidance related to the use of marijuana from State authorized marijuana programs, including necessary quality or production standards for marijuana intended for use in medical research.”
Soon state-licensed cannabis companies will be able to participate in clinical research studies to help determine how best to use cannabis safely for treatments and for recreation.
Good stuff. Well needed and long overdue.
