Law Tip of the day: Lawsuits can be expensive. Like, really really expensive. Here’s how you can avoid spending all your money on litigation attorneys like me.
Today we wrapped up the initial conference on a $100Million+ business dispute which we're arbitrating. The case could’ve gone to court, costing both sides $100k-$Millions in legal fees. Instead, the parties agreed to arbitrate and get to a fair and logical decision based upon the relevant law and facts, much faster than a lawsuit ever would.
You may think that when you have an issue the only way to solve it is by going to court and filing a lawsuit. However, that‘s not the case. Frequently, there are better, more efficient, and cheaper options available.
Alternative dispute resolution (ADR) is designed to keep controversy out of court so it can be resolved in the quickest and most effective way. The ADR process is a way for parties to settle disputes, with the help of a third party acting as an experienced and unbiased facilitator.
Arbitration is like a trial before an arbitrator, who acts like a judge, but can decide the case more quickly and cheaply than a judge can.
If you have a dispute in which you're considering suing someone, or if you're concerned about a potential issue coming up, we‘d love to help you.
